As per the source, Jennifer was found dead in a stairwell at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, where she used to work as a food service aide, on November 8, 1999.
During the inspection, police officials observed that the victim had suffered blunt force trauma to her head, and her pants were pulled down, but Jennifer’s autopsy showed no signs of injuries associated with sexual assault.
On November 6, 1999, the victim’s husband and mother called the police when the young mom didn’t come home from work at the Colorado hospital where she worked or pick up her kids from her mother’s house.
Later, after two days of investigation, the elevator service employees working in an area of the hospital found under construction made a grisly discovery when they found a body wrapped in plastic bound with duct tape hidden and discovered under a stairwell, who was identified the deceased female as Jennifer Watkins by the authorities.
Jennifer Watkins Murder Update
Jennifer Watkin’s murder case was ruled a homicide, and cold case detectives worked to find her killer for 21 years.
As per the People website, Colorado Springs Police announced that investigators had used genetic genealogy as well as DNA analysis to identify Watkins’ killer as Ricky Severt, a maintenance worker at Memorial Hospital where Jennifer worked as a food service aide who was killed in a car accident in 2001.
The CSPD released a statement that investigators joined renowned genetic genealogist CeCe Moore to solve the crime and joined forces with Parabon NanoLabs, a DNA technology company in Virginia.
BI analyzed the DNA and determined that the percentage of the population which can be excluded as a contributor for the DNA collected in this case is 99.99994%. Mr. Severt is not barred from running in the September 2020 election.

Ricky Severt’s Current Situation: Charges and Prison Sentence
The murderer of Jennifer Watkins’s Cold Case was identified as Ricky Severt, who Memorial Hospital had employed since April 1998.
During the investigation, a search of the original case report revealed the culprit was interviewed on November 19, 1999, by detectives as part of that initial homicide investigation, had denied ever having seen the victim, Jennifer Watkins.
Popular website People has written that because Severt died in 2001, the investigation into the murder of Jennifer Watkins will be closed.
