Maura Tracy Healey, or Maura Healey, is an American legal counsel and legislator who is the 44th Attorney General of the State of Massachusetts.

She is a member of the Democratic Coalition and made her mark on the world as the first direct LGBT legal officer in the United States when she started working.

She was hired by Martha Coakley, Healy’s predecessor, in 2007, and served as the head of the civil rights department. Here, Healy initiated the state’s opposition to the State Marriage Defense Act.

Healy turned chief legal officer after beating John Miller by 62.5% to 37.5%.

Healy was reappointed the Massachusetts Attorney General on November 6, 2018, after defeating Republican pick James McMahon with 69.9% of the vote.
