Lizzo Slays On The Latest Cover Of ‘ELLE UK’ And Discusses Her New Album, Her Love Life And Not Believing She Could Make It In Music Because Of Her Looks

After the release of her new album, ‘Private’, Lizzo is doing her press roundup – the latest of which includes an adorable cover photo session and an interview with ‘ELLE UK’ magazine. While she was discussing her music, love life, and multiple business ventures in the interview, one of the most touching aspects was when she talked about not feeling like she even deserved to be in the music industry.

Lizzo spoke about how it felt not to see her grow up that she thought her music wouldn’t be taken seriously because of her looks, “Sure, there were women like Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah. But they were the exception to the rule. And so I always felt that even if the song was great, people wouldn’t want Hearing it coming from me.So I thought, if I had other people on stage as well, it would take the focus off me a little bit. I know people want to look like me now. But I’m talking about what it was like in my formative years. I wasn’t really prepared to think that I I was desirable. To me, being a pop star — part of it is that people either want to be you or be with you. And I didn’t feel like I had any of those qualities.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Lizzo detailed the feelings her fans can expect from her new album. “I had to remember, when we get out of lockdown, people are going to come out of depression. And the end of lockdown doesn’t mean the end of their psychological struggles. So I wanted to make music that people could use as a soundtrack to survive. That was the drive for this album.”

Additionally, Lizzo explained the meaning behind her album, saying, “All these great songs give people a language to express themselves and get a release after all they’ve been through. I’ve spent years feeling ashamed. It took a lot of work to feel like I deserved to be. Being in this place. Feeling worthy is a force to be reckoned with.”

Lizzo’s “Private” album is now available on all streaming platforms.
