There are people who have been laid off who are actively working to cause me harm, and if you pass on these negative statements without conducting your own reporting to back them up, that will become a significant problem.” Following the disclosure of these text conversations, Duncan received commendation from the National Association of Black Journalists for her coverage of a segment of the Me Too campaign. Fager rejected the initial charges, but later revealed that he was the one who had sent Duncan the threatening messages.
